IIRD, with due support from Gail India Limited, implemented a developmental project of providing RO Plants in the government schools in Jaggaiahpeta constituency of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh. First, the project identified solutions to providing safe and clean drinking water to schoolchildren and then 117 RO plants were set up in each of the schools. For this, 4 mandals were identified - Vatsavai Mandal, Nandigama, Penuganchiprol and Jaggaiahpeta - where the RO plants with the capacity of 500LPH, 200LPH and 100LPH were commissioned in 117 schools according to their consumption requirements. A basic need assessment was conducted in 136 schools for thorough understanding, development of action plan and better implementation of the activities. Around 12,380 people, including students, teachers and staff are the direct beneficiaries of the project wherein there has been expected fall in the cases of water-borne diseases.
