Institute for Integrated Rural Development has made its mandate to propagate holistic development which is sustainable and has a positive impact on the environment, in this direction, we are working towards Environment Conservation through Solid Waste Management. In a recent project in Chandigarh, IIRD collaborated with GAIL India Limited as an Implementing Agency for a CSR project.

IIRD got in touch with the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation and carried out the need assessment to know their immediate needs. This process gave the insight that the MC could benefit from the addition of more tippers in their cavalcade. Thus, based on the findings and the synergistic collaboration with GAIL, the Chandigarh MC was handed over 7 Tippers in November 2019. The tippers are being used for garbage collection through optimum Solid Waste Management to maintain/ boost the cleanliness of the city and further propagate, support the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
